Had gone to a different smog place on a Sunday only to realize they were closed. Google directed me to this place which was nearby. The man at the front desk was very pleasant, the price very reasonable (over 20 dollars more at 2 other places I had called), and the service was FAST. Why only 3 stars? As I was getting ready to pay they told me I needed a new timing belt. Believe it or not- despite being a chic- I know what a timing belt is....they are expensive number 1, and essential to have in working order number 2. HOWEVER, currently my SUV has 106,800 miles on it....and guess what....the timing belt was indeed replaced at 90,000miles. I find it HIGHLY HIGHLY unlikely that it needs to be replaced again already. Getting a second opinion today....the number of stars may plummet from 3 to 1 if the belt is fine. Don't get me wrong they did a great job on the smog...but honesty is paramount and if the "you need a new timing belt" ends up being a load of bull....that will be the end of any future relationship with Speedy Auto Repair & Smog. Stay tuned.... 6pm 1/14/14 Update- Spoke to Lexus service in Albuquerque. The timing belt WAS INDEED replaced at 91,000 miles. There is no current need for it to be replaced. Thank God for record keeping and knowing a little bit about cars. Lexus service in SD agrees, the belt does not need to be replaced. For a smog I recommend them...anything else they say....get a second opinion.

Update:: 2.22.14 Ok, soo.. I went back to this place for more than a smog check.. Not much more, however, as I only got an engine light check performed. I was going for service, but the extent of my services went beyond the scope of what I could get done before close. So all I had time to do today really, was get the diagnostic testing done. I called a couple of hours in advance, and when I got there, the guy recalled that I called (sorry for all the calling :-) ) and mentioned coming in. He helped me out right away in getting the engine test done. He scans, and tells me there are 3 separate issues. I can tell there is something off because I drive the car, but nothing is blowing up or overheating at this point, so pretty speculative. **A bit of background on my car, I've had an aftermarket cool-air intake installed, and some wires would touch in my engine and this would supply me with a check engine light, but I had that patched up.** I told him this could possibly be one of the issues, due to all the recent work. He said this particular "sensory" issue didn't pop up, and quickly spit out 3 diagnostic codes, and told me they normally charge $70 per code to test, but instead of charging me over $200, he would hit me for $110 to drop car off on Monday (today is Saturday) and check all of the issues. Two things wrong with that: One, it costs me $100 to take my car to Acura.. not some third party shop.. That's $100 to come in the door, and evaluate all issues. Two, to leave the door so open "these three codes, to find out what they are, come back Monday" like.. wtf?? Uh, no! So, I de-duct two stars from the excellent smog service down to 3, which is A-OK.. Because the diagnostic was free and fast. But don't try to play me and act like you're cutting me a deal. Acura will wash my car when they're finished, and possibly give me a loaner if they're acting right. For 10 bucks less. So let's not go there! I think a 3 star rating, overall, is fair, considering the premium smog service I received below, and the testing phase this day. No real work done, so reservations held... for now... _______________________________________________________________ I have to say, Trina L. down there sounds a little scorned.. I just went to this spot yesterday afternoon, 12.8.13, shortly before closing time, and I received the best possible smog check experience I think I've encountered, yet! She must drive an excursion that hasn't been checked out in months. This is a public service announcement to my ladies: You have to maintain your vehicle! Do NOT just "gas and go"! Let me start off by saying I didn't even mention seeing any deal online, or any price. He asked me how I found them and I told him I saw an AD online.. Which was the truth. Registration is due in two days; heeelllp!! I caught them at a very good time because I was the only customer, and smog check literally took all of 15 min. (Keep in mind, I was the only customer as it was riiiiiight before closing time on a Sunday afternoon, Charger home game going on, etc.) The waiting room isn't anything to write home about; probably a 3 x 4 space, the counter/desk right in front of you. If it were really busy, I'm sure people would take off down Rosecrans and surrounding areas, plenty to get into. But for me, I was in and out. Gentleman was knowledgeable, made a joke about wanting to hear the "good news or the good news first" (what anybody wants to hear when reg. is due in 48 hours) noticed my nice sound system and we exchanged some tips and tricks. Smog passed just in time, AND he gave me the great deal I saw online that I didn't even mention. He just KNEW. That's what's up! Cheapest smog check I've seen thus far, and that's without a coupon. I might even check out some of their other work too, if applicable. True to their name, Speedy got me in and out! I'm referring them to smog-checkees already!

Took my 2007 RAV4 here for a smog check. It wasn't super busy (I came in on a Tuesday morning before lunch hour) and I was serviced immediately and they took my car back right away. Once I checked in on Yelp, I received a $10 OFF coupon for my smog, so it only costed me $30 bucks. Not too shabby. On top of doing my smog check in under an hour, they also offer DMV Registration services so I was able to skip the waiting game and get my 2014 sticker on the spot. Note: No smog is needed for this service - do yourself a favor and come here! (There is an additional $25 cost to do it outside of the DMV, but if you have the cash it's worth it.) I will be back next year, Quick labor, good customer service, and no hassle.

BEWARE! The $30 advertised price for a smog test is a scam. I was charged $39.95 for a 2005 Infiniti that passed easily. When I complained about their misleading advertising, I got no reply. The only reason I went ahead was that I was in a hurry to be able to re-register the vehicle. The bill I received read: "Labor $31.70, Parts $8.25, TOTAL $39.95.

I went there to get my car smogged. The price was good and the service was polite. I had to get my bearings fixed on my car as well, they gave me a quote. After checking around at other places, they still had the best quote. I took my car to them, service was great and they had my car done in a matter of hours for the exact price they quoted. Would definitely take my car back there and recommend to others.

I have taken two different vehicles here from smog checks and both times went OK and both cars passed. You can expect to pay more than the quoted online price of 30 dollars for the smog due to an unlisted certification fee or something but it's still a good price. Also if your car is over 5,000 lbs it costs more. The workers and mechanics are nice and seem honest. I have been happy with my experiences here and will go back next time I need a smog check.

The staff is very friendly, they do good work, and they have very reasonable prices. My low tire pressure indicator light on my 2010 Honda Fit went off yesterday. When I got off at 5:30p.m. today, every place was closed. I googled some places in my phone and called Speedy. When I called, it was 6:12p.m., but I asked what time they were open until. Dany said 6p.m. I said, ok, thanks, but he said, it's okay. What's going on? I told him and he invited me to the shop to take a look. Fantastic service, letting me come by even after the shop was closed. When I got there, Dany took a look and found a big fat nail in my back tire. He said it could not be repaired, only replaced. The inspection was FREE. He looked, but could not find a tire in the shop, so they ordered one and told me to come by tomorrow to have it put on. Total cost: $89.00 (with labor and tax). That's a terrific price. I've had the work on my car done at the Honda dealership thus far because I couldn't find a mechanic I trusted. I always feel nickel and dimed. When my front tire exploded two years ago, my trip to Honda was almost $250.00. I've also had work done at Sears, and this is cheaper. I won't be going back to Honda or Sears again. My quote for an oil change was $24.00. My quote to change my filter was $14.98 because I wouldn't be charged for labor. I was so happy with my experience that I came back and wrote a review immediately. I was surprised to see that they were rated so low on yelp, but then again, most of the bad reviews are for smog checks. I don't know anything about that. My experience was fantastic, and they will have a repeat customer in me. Yay for small business!

My husband and I always bring our cars here to have work done, and we have always been happy with the results. Last week, I brought my car in to have the power steering fixed, and the guys at Speedys called GMC to check on the status of a recall. They could have charged me hundreds of dollars to fix the problem. Instead, they told me to take it to the dealership, where it was fixed for free under warranty. I appreciate their honesty and will go back again.

So My 1999 Nissan would not pass smog...I was referred to Speedy Auto by a friend..They probably could have sold me on a lot but were honest and did what they had to do to make me pass..I passed smog and all is good now....The owner also put a a missing bolt in my driver seat at no extra charge..For all out there I would say you can trust them with a smog fix ....Adam L

I was instantly impressed by their customer service when I called in. Danny was extremely polite on the phone and gave me great pricing on the services I needed (smog and oil change). For an oil change and smog check, I spent just a little more than what other garages charge for an oil change alone. When I pulled in, I was instantly greeted and told where to go. They estimated 45 minutes for everything, and were done in 30. They charged me exactly what was quoted on the phone, and I didn't have to put up with anyone trying to up-sell me on things I don't really need. I will definitely be returning to Speedy Auto and telling my friends about it too. They are honest, friendly, and do great work.
