Update:: 2.22.14 Ok, soo.. I went back to this place for more than a smog check.. Not much more, however, as I only got an engine light check performed. I was going for service, but the extent of my services went beyond the scope of what I could get done before close. So all I had time to do today really, was get the diagnostic testing done. I called a couple of hours in advance, and when I got there, the guy recalled that I called (sorry for all the calling :-) ) and mentioned coming in. He helped me out right away in getting the engine test done. He scans, and tells me there are 3 separate issues. I can tell there is something off because I drive the car, but nothing is blowing up or overheating at this point, so pretty speculative. **A bit of background on my car, I've had an aftermarket cool-air intake installed, and some wires would touch in my engine and this would supply me with a check engine light, but I had that patched up.** I told him this could possibly be one of the issues, due to all the recent work. He said this particular "sensory" issue didn't pop up, and quickly spit out 3 diagnostic codes, and told me they normally charge $70 per code to test, but instead of charging me over $200, he would hit me for $110 to drop car off on Monday (today is Saturday) and check all of the issues. Two things wrong with that: One, it costs me $100 to take my car to Acura.. not some third party shop.. That's $100 to come in the door, and evaluate all issues. Two, to leave the door so open "these three codes, to find out what they are, come back Monday" like.. wtf?? Uh, no! So, I de-duct two stars from the excellent smog service down to 3, which is A-OK.. Because the diagnostic was free and fast. But don't try to play me and act like you're cutting me a deal. Acura will wash my car when they're finished, and possibly give me a loaner if they're acting right. For 10 bucks less. So let's not go there! I think a 3 star rating, overall, is fair, considering the premium smog service I received below, and the testing phase this day. No real work done, so reservations held... for now... _______________________________________________________________ I have to say, Trina L. down there sounds a little scorned.. I just went to this spot yesterday afternoon, 12.8.13, shortly before closing time, and I received the best possible smog check experience I think I've encountered, yet! She must drive an excursion that hasn't been checked out in months. This is a public service announcement to my ladies: You have to maintain your vehicle! Do NOT just "gas and go"! Let me start off by saying I didn't even mention seeing any deal online, or any price. He asked me how I found them and I told him I saw an AD online.. Which was the truth. Registration is due in two days; heeelllp!! I caught them at a very good time because I was the only customer, and smog check literally took all of 15 min. (Keep in mind, I was the only customer as it was riiiiiight before closing time on a Sunday afternoon, Charger home game going on, etc.) The waiting room isn't anything to write home about; probably a 3 x 4 space, the counter/desk right in front of you. If it were really busy, I'm sure people would take off down Rosecrans and surrounding areas, plenty to get into. But for me, I was in and out. Gentleman was knowledgeable, made a joke about wanting to hear the "good news or the good news first" (what anybody wants to hear when reg. is due in 48 hours) noticed my nice sound system and we exchanged some tips and tricks. Smog passed just in time, AND he gave me the great deal I saw online that I didn't even mention. He just KNEW. That's what's up! Cheapest smog check I've seen thus far, and that's without a coupon. I might even check out some of their other work too, if applicable. True to their name, Speedy got me in and out! I'm referring them to smog-checkees already!
