HONEST SERVICE BUT... trying to make me make purchases without the need. ... driving on a donut is NOT CUTE. SITUATION. Driving from the hwy 8 to the i-5 and hit a something which busted and dented the inner part of my upper right rim (pretty badly). I could barely drive my car and it was making this nasty metal to metal sound per car wheel cycle. These were my options. 1) Call progressive roadside assistance to help me get to a shop [could take up to 1-2hrs] 2) Locate the closest car shop still open and attempt to drive 3mph. LUCKILY there was guy in my passenger seat who knows cars and we chose the ladder. THE SHOP. This was the closest car shop open to my location near Little Italy. They charged me $90 for inspection only - take off the wheel to check if there was any damage. And NO damage to the brakes, disc brake hub, or any other major car parts - the inner rim was so badly damaged and the bent part was rubbing on another part but didn't damage anything. The only replacement was only a rim with attempts to salvage the wheel. However this place wasn't a true wheel shop but they could order if need be. THE PROBLEM. We know the problem, only need to replace that ONE rim. Test the tire on the new rim to salvage the wheel, if not buy new wheel too. Then get an alignment. They were honest with telling me there's no damage and what needs to be done. However they continued to try to get more service, we can replace yours wheels (which wasn't necessary at this time), they showed me a nail in a wheel (but the nail isn't causing any air leak... nails are always in wheels but doesn't mean you need to buy a tire if it's not leaking), they wanted to order the rim for me and etc (not picky on a rim because I have hub caps that cover the rim), they proceed to tell me my hub caps are crooked (hub caps don't have to be perfect and nothing was wrong with my hub caps). Again, luckily a guy was with me and intercepted the conversation and pulled me aside and said it's easy to get rim for cheap and we don't have to order with them. My dad was a mechanic so when car shop guys try to "sale" to me I'm a bit smarter than the average chick. And when a guy goes to a car shop with a women, a women doesn't get taken advantage off as much. Overall kudos quickly identifying the initial issue and helping me out. Other than that, I will take my car elsewhere. Until the next review....
